1 cup dalia, ½ cup soaked soybeans, 1 finely chopped onion, 1 chopped tomato, 1-2 green chilies, 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste, ½ teaspoon cumin seeds, ½ teaspoon turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon garam masala, Salt to taste, 2-3 tablespoons oil or ghee, 4 cups water, Fresh coriander leaves
Soak the soybeans in water and rinse the dalia. Drain the extra water in them.
You can use oil or ghee to make this. Heat it over medium heat. You can use a pressure cooker or a pan for this. Put cumin seeds then chopped onions to it. Sauté until they cook.
Now you add ginger garlic paste and green chilies. Sauté for a minute and add the chopped tomatoes. Cook until they become soft. Mix in turmeric powder, garam masala, and salt. Cook for another minute.
Add 4 cups of water to it. Mix it well till it boils. Cook until 2 whistles in a pressure cooker. If using a pan, cover it with a lid. Then, cook until the dalia is soft. You will know it as the water is absorbed.
When it is cooked, turn off the heat. Let it rest for a few minutes. You can fluff the khichdi with a fork.
